History of The Manufacturer of Brute Lawn Mowers
Briggs & Stratton is the manufacturer of brute lawn mowers. The giant engine manufacturing company was launched in 1908 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with an informal partnership between Stephen Foster Briggs and Harold M. Stratton. That’s why the company name is Briggs & Stratton. However, now the company is based in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
Briggs & Stratton manufactured their engines for the power tools like lawn mowers, pressure washers, electrical generators, go-karts, and other types of power equipment. The company gained mainstream popularity after developing its lightweight aluminum engines in 1953.
From 1908 to 1999, the company has been developing so many great engines. With their amazing innovations, they are now one of the leading engine manufacturers in the automotive industry.
In the year 2000, Briggs & Stratton acquired its consumer generator business from the Beacon Group. And then they reformed Briggs & Stratton Power Products. Later in 2008, Briggs & Stratton acquired the Victa Lawn Care business for AUD $23 million from GUD Holdings Limited Australia.
In 2019, Briggs & Stratton closed their engine manufacturing plant in Murray, Kentucky, and moved it to their Poplar Bluff, Missouri facility. However, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 20, 2020. Then the KPS Capital Partners purchased the company for $900million.
